Candle wick, flat wick SSD
This wick was developed for pillar candles to achieve optimal burning behaviour with stearin blends with a stearin content of up to 100%. For a lower stearin concentration, our flat wick STG would be more suitable. The SSD can also be used for other non-free-standing candle projects. It is a waxed flat wick made of cotton, with metal base in a length of approx.18,5 cm. The wicks are not treated with borax and are tested according to RAL standards.
The flat wick SSD is ideal for the production of pillar candles. Today, pillar candles are widespread and very popular, due to their large and thick shape they can convince with a particularly long burning time. The candle wick shows a good and consistent burning behaviour, has a good wick stand and forms little to no slugs. The wicks are manufactured in Germany.
Usage
Place the candle wick in the mould and then pour the wax into the mould. Wax adhesive plates for candles can be used to prevent the wick from moving during production.
Versions
We offer the candle wick in 3 varieties:
- SSD 60: For candles up to approx. 6 cm Ø
- SSD 70: For candles up to approx. 7 cm Ø
- SSD 120: For candles up to approx. 12 cm Ø

Note
Flat wicks with metal bases cannot be used to pull candles. There are many factors that have an influence on the burning behaviour of a candle. The main ones include the type of wax, the melting point of the wax, the thickness of the candle, and the addition of colour and scents. Test your candle project with our wicks before ordering a large number of wicks. Slight variations in e.g. colour or length of the individual wicks are possible.
