Stearic Acid Pearls Mascid 1800
Stearic acid Mascid 1800 is a high-quality, triple-pressed stearic acid. Stearic acid is also known as stearin. It is also called palm wax or stearin wax, because stearic acid is obtained from palm oil and has a wax-like structure and melting behaviour. Commercially offered stearic acids are not pure stearic acids but always mixtures of different fatty acids in different proportions. The typical fatty acids are lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid and stearic acid. Some other fatty acids such as margaric acid are present in small proportions. Type 1800 has a comparatively higher proportion of palmitic acid (approx. 60 - 66 %) and approx. 35 % of stearic acid.
Application
Typical applications are candles, often as an additive to paraffin. The addition of stearic acid makes the colour of the paraffin whiter and less transparent. Moreover, the addition of stearic acid makes it possible to optimize the burning time and strength of candles. Since the wick also plays an important role in the burning of candles, a wick specially adapted to stearic acids, such as our flat wick SSD, should be used. In order to achieve an even stronger, typical crystallization effect in candles, you should use type 1802 with an even higher proportion of stearic acid. Stearic acid 1800 is also suitable for use in cosmetics and many other applications.
