Ensures long-lasting, intensely scented candles
Candle Additive Fragrance Enhancer (23132008)
This additive was created to achieve long-lasting, intensely scented container candles. It reliably protects candles from sweating out the oils responsible for the scent. Additionally, it ensures that the wax-oil mixture burns more evenly, which means that the aromas and essences of the scented oils are distributed more quickly and evenly in the room. It also allows for a higher fragrance-load and results in candles with a stronger scent. Even though this candle additive defining purpose is fragrance retention, it provides several additional benefits to your candle.
Our Candle Additive Fragrance Enhancer promotes uniform color distribution and increases the opacity, while often brightening the color. It also works as a wax hardener by increasing the melting point, acting as an alternative to stearic acid. In terms of looks this additive increases the surface gloss of your candle while reducing any surface flaws. Additionally, it helps reducing air bubbles and mottling, also known as the snowflake effect.
This additive works in a similar way to Vybar 260 and therefore achieves similar benefits.
Area of application
As this additive is suited for container candles and has been optimised for low melting waxes with melting points below 54°C. Therefore, this additive can be used for a wide range of waxes, including paraffin as well as natural waxes like our Soy wax flakes - NatureWax® C-1 and Soy wax flakes - NatureWax® C-3.
Due to the chemical composition of wax, it only allows for a limited amount of additional oil, including fragrance oil (usually up to 3% for paraffin wax). Therefore, a binding agent, such as our Candle Additive Fragrance Enhancer, is needed to achieve a stronger scent known from "double-scented" (ca. 6%) or "triple-scented" (ca. 9%) candles.
Usage
During the candle making process the additive should be added to the melted wax before any wax dye or fragrances are added. Make sure that the additive is completely melted so that it can develop its full potential.
Recommended addition: 3 %
Caution
If you add too much additive, you may experience cracking near the wick as the wax will get very hard. With increased candle hardness a larger wick is usually required. Additionally, using too much can also trap the fragrance oil in the wax and hinder the hot throw instead of increasing the scent.
Notice:
There are many factors that have an influence on the burning behaviour of a candle. The main ones include the type of wax, the melting point of the wax, the thickness of the candle, as well as the addition of colours, fragrances and additives. Test your candle project with our candle additive before you produce a large number of candles. To find the ideal proportion, a little trial and error is unavoidable.
