Soy wax has become one of the most popular, natural waxes and is a perfect option for people seeking a more sustainable wax.
Most of the time it is manufactured ecologically and vegan in the United States. Soy wax is a renewable raw material that is produced ecologically and vegan and is biodegradable as a natural product.
Soy wax is derived from vegetable soybeans and often comes in a practical flake form making it very easy to use. Some soy wax however does come in slabs.
It is completely plant-based and has a natural smell. The color can vary from white to off white/light beige. There are types that are blended with other natureal waxes – such as coconut or palm wax. But some types come completely made of soy.
If you are vegan and want to avoid beeswax, soy wax is a great alternative. It’s in most cases better for scented candles compared to rapeseed wax. In ready to use soy wax there are completely plant-based options, whereas rapeseed wax often contains synthetic additives that make it useable as candle wax.
Soy wax has a low melting temperature. To be used, it’s best melted in a water bath and poured into glasses or containers.
Before you pour, be sure that the glasses and containers are not too cold (min. room temperature). Pouring slowly and tapping the container on the bottom air bubbles can be prevented. It is important to let soy candles dry slowly (don’t put them in the fridge or outside).
Our soy wax, when properly used, forms little to no frosting. However, you should always run tests first, especially when you use darker colors.
Candles made with soy wax burn very well and especially slower than paraffin candles.
Be sure to let the candle melt all the way to the edge when burning the first time – this prevents tunneling problems. With the right wick-use there is little to no waxy residue on the rim of the container.
For pillar candles or other freestanding candles this product is rather too soft. However, it can be added as an addition of harder waxes for freestanding candles.
We provide soy wax in different types:
NATUREWAX C-3 - is a pure and pour-ready soy wax (no other waxes blended). Comes in flakes for a very easy use, especially great for glass or container candles. We provide the soy wax C-3 under our label DistrEco in plastic-free packaging.
NATUREWAX C-1 – similar to the C-3 but is blended with a small part of palm wax. It’s easier to remove from forms has the special property of detaching from the rim of the container. Plus, it’s usually a less expensive alternative to C-3.
NATUREWAX C-6 – also a ready to use soy wax with a nice, creamy texture. It’s blended with a small part of coconut wax and is perfect for glass candles. This wax comes in slabs.
SOY WAX COSMETIC - pure soy wax, mostly from Europe. It’s too soft for candle making but used in the cosmetic field. This wax comes in blocks.
