How to make Dip-Dye Candles

You've made stick candles with our rapeseed wax 5761 or with our paraffin 58/60 and would like to colour them afterwards? Or you want to try out the dip-dye trend that you see everywhere on Instagram right now?

Then this tutorial is for you!

Here you will learn how to easily colour your homemade or purchased candles with our Dipping Wax 2311. Dipping Wax 2311 is a higher melting wax that creates a hardening, smooth surface to coat candles.

1. prepare

Divide the wax into clean jars or tins (one container per colour) and melt carefully in a water bath. You can use super smoothie jar bottles or the good old tins as containers. No water should get into the bottles/cans and the water should be just before boiling.

2. add colour

Completely melt and mix our neon candle colour (max 1%) or our basic colours (max 0.2%) in the liquid wax at approx. 75°C. Important: When colouring, a little trial and error is necessary to achieve the desired colour result. The colour becomes less intense as the wax cools down. You can of course work with several layers of dipping wax.

Important: Our colours are VERY productive - it is best to start with 2-3 pastilles and try them out.

For DipDye candles we recommend our neon colours for stronger colours. The neon candle colours consist of pigments, which is why they can be used especially well in dipping wax (if you mix them directly into the candle, there is a risk that the wick will be clogged by the pigments). For pastel shades, our normal basic candle colours are good.

Our colours are great for mixing!

3. dipping

Dip the stick candles into the coloured wax as you like. Allow to dry after each layer before dipping again, changing colour or allowing the candles to dry out - this is usually very quick.

4. leave to dry

Allow the candles to dry completely at room temperature for a few hours (the more layers, the longer.) It is best to hang them by the wick. Alternatively, you can place the DipDye candles on a sheet of baking paper to dry.

5. give away or light

Your Dip Dye candles are perfect as a super cute decoration, but also as a present or gift for Mother's Day.

This creative activity is also super great to do with kids! (:
