What is candelilla wax?
Candelilla wax is obtained from the leaves and shrubs (Latin Euphorbia Cerifera) of the candelilla bush and is native to the northern Mexican states as well as the southwestern United States. The plant grows to a height of about 30 cm. To extract the wax, the leaves of the candelilla bush are mainly boiled in water and the accumulating wax is removed from the surface. After that, the wax is cleaned in several steps. There are no animal ingredients in candelilla wax, so it is vegan.

Where is the melting point?
The melting point is about 70 °C. This makes it one of the highest melting natural waxes, similar to carnauba wax.
Alternative to beeswax?
The candelilla wax is a vegetable and vegan alternative to beeswax, as it offers high strength and is therefore optimal for makeup, mascara, eyeliner, lip care and much more. However, candelilla wax is not as soft and flexible as beeswax. Therefore, candelilla wax is vegan.
What does candelilla wax smell like?
When heated but also as pastilles, candelilla wax has an aromatic sweet smell of plants or grasses.
